Commissioned by book publishing company Simon & Schuster for the Erec Rex novel series by author Kaza Kingsley. The top was intentionally left blank for the title text. Painting this was very fun, and quite challenging because of the strong light source and contrast. The cages and chains were added to enhance the feeling of being trapped. The two large chains were especially positioned to overlap the hero's legs, emphasising the difficulty of his escape.
